I take hundreds and hundreds of photos during the year – of my clients’ gardens, my own garden, gardens I visit, garden shows I visit, as well as landscapes and details that take my fancy on my travels. In fact, thinking about it I’m a bit of a garden obsessive. Even my holiday pictures tend to be mainly of interesting paving or plants I like!
I was recently looking through my 2014 photos and thought it would be nice to put together a little gallery of things which I particularly enjoyed or which inspired me. So, from start to finish, here’s a taste of what I got up to last year ….
- Endless rain in January 2014 made landscaping this Froxfield garden a really messy business
- Plant buying on a large scale, choosing trees from the field
- Spring has sprung in my garden
- Chelsea Flower Show – horribly busy but a great source of inspiration
- Woolbeding Gardens near Midhurst – always worth a visit, with such a lot to enjoy
- Back to see how my planting is doing a year on. Stunning views of the South Downs in the distance
- Outdoor sculpture at Asthall Manor in the Cotswolds
- This rose against the Cotswold stone of this house was absolutely stunning. The underplanting of Hydrangea Annabel is perfect.
- A bespoke planter by Tristan Cockerill, for my clients on the South coast
- Perk of the job – a quick look at the local surroundings on a site visit to Hamble in Hampshire
- Seen at one of my wholesale nurseries – Hydrangea Annabel underplanted with blue Geranium
- A trip to see how my planting has established, country garden in Hawkley near Petersfield
- It’s hard to beat a wildflower meadow
- It’s always great to get out of the office and look at new landscaping products – especially on a nice sunny day
- Summer visit to Dove Cottage Nursery in Halifax, Yorkshire. Lovely plants and great combinations.
- In August I visited Pensthorpe in Norfolk to see the garden planted by Piet Oudolf. It was definitely worth the (long) trip.
- 2 months on, the planting in my client’s coastal garden. Verbena bonariensis is such a great plant!
- Salvia and stunning grasses at the RHS Tatton Park show
- 3 years after planting this garden near Alton, it was lovely to go back – and great to hear how much the tenants love the garden
- Poppies at the Tower – so glad I got to see them
- 10 minutes from my house I have amazing views like this to enjoy and inspire me. I never tire of them.
